Hi there, I might be not the usual everyday using Live user but here's my try. I, guitar, did this in 2002 with my friend and bass player Leon Duncan . We usually play Jazz but everything called music is interesting anyway. So we just expressed the blooze and didn't really care about the drums :oops...

Live now certainly has what a musician needs on stage. I would recommend to stop adding new features for this and that and all of this special needs of specialized performers. Oh yes.
But this works only when zooming in fully. The step size seems to change in relation to the zoom factor. Is it possible to move by ticks in a bar (unzoomed) view?

BTW what is the resolution of the sequencer?

is there a way to move midi notes by ticks forward and back in Live 4.03?
Could not found anything in the manual and the forum.
