Re: Slow loading DJ project, HD overloads, fun times

After defragmenting and running ONYX Ableton loads in 10 seconds and the entire project in less than 30 seconds. I emailed tech support and the only thing they suggested was free space. I'm only using 40 out of 250GB on an external Firewire800 drive (7200rpm). Has anyone ever heard of USB devices or...

Slow loading DJ project, HD overloads, fun times

So I was mixing today, and I started getting hard disk overloads resulting in drop outs. Loading the project takes 3-4 minutes now, it's got about 160 tracks in it, mp3's @ 320 & WAV, in subfolders. Using a G-tech Mini Firewire-800 drive. This wasn't happening before, it's a new thing, not sure ...

Re: Mapping Tempo

I too would like to do this. That is, have buttons for up down by one bpm. I don't need the nudge buttons. But it's nice to be able to pick it up or slow it down incrementally as some tracks can be dramatically affected by just a few bpm.

Re: Is there a way to have two MIDI maps in one project?

The problem with having two sets is that if I make any adjustments then I'll have to do them twice, once for each project. If I change my FX chain on the master bus for instance. I could see this being really handy for people who do both DJ & LivePA performances, since the control requirements a...

My livePA set from Sequential Circus 7, Vancouver (download)

http://soundcloud.com/wesleydysart/wesley-dysart-live-at-sequential-circus-7-vancouver-bc It's a live set I did back in July using a Macbook Pro, DSI Mopho, Emu keyboard controller, APC40 & a Faderfox LV2. A mixture of progressive, trance, tech, electro, 127'ish bpm, mostly 4x4 with some breaks....

Is there a way to have two MIDI maps in one project?

My APC is off for repair and it's been almost a month. So I'm about to take my old PX7 and route it to everything so I can jam. Only problem is, in order to avoid conflicts with routings I've made with the APC I'll have to copy the project and overwrite the assignments. Is there a way to have 2 sets...

Re: APC40 triggering external instrument that it's not routed to

w00t part 2. epic thread eh? again, sorry for my incessant posting. I'm working really hard to integrate more things into my live show and the external synth issue has really been plaguing me. Turns out I had 'remote' enabled on the output port that was going to my synth. I still don't get why the A...

Re: APC40 triggering external instrument that it's not routed to

ok. I've now gotten this error to happen even when there are no MIDI instruments and no external instruments. Nothing with MIDI. I have no earthly idea how the APC is getting it's MIDI info to my external synth, there's no physical cable, it's not routed there... there's no virtual routing that I ca...

Re: APC40 triggering external instrument that it's not routed to

time for another installment. I've been able to create a project and display the problem. So I zipped that up and sent a message to Ableton tech support. It seems simple enough of a bug to recreate, just add an external instrument and try midi mapping some things. Now I'm having the problem when try...

Re: APC40 triggering external instrument that it's not routed to

ok, it's me again. Not completely fixed. Sorry for so much posting but I assume I'm not the only person in the world who'd like to route a button on the APC to something custom and still be able to use external synths. If I route a button on my APC to turn on something like a beat repeat on channel/...

Re: APC40 triggering external instrument that it's not routed to

w00000000000t!! I fixed it. Apparently, I still had track enable and solo MIDI routings left over from an old controller. I'm not sure how enabling track enable or solo to be controlled via midi causes this problem, but it does. Removing those routings makes the midi go away. yay!

Re: APC40 triggering external instrument that it's not routed to

update. If I disable all audio tracks in my live set it seems to stop the APC from sending notes. As soon as I click 'enable' a stuck note comes on. Then if I 'disable' that channel the note goes off. Any ideas? Do projects get corrupted?

Re: APC40 triggering external instrument that it's not routed to

ok. really strange. I've created a new project and I can't get the APC to trigger the external synth under any circumstances. I guess I'm going to rebuild my project and copy paste into it. It seems somehow my actual project file is glitchy. I've tried disabling all other channels and creating a bra...

Re: APC40 triggering external instrument that it's not routed to

thanks for the advice. I've tried disabling the APC from everything. I actually do want it as a midi controller since I'm using lots of it's controls for things other than what it was programmed for. Anyway, even with it completely disabled for track/sync/remote it's still triggering the external sy...

APC40 triggering external instrument that it's not routed to

I took the clip stop buttons and routed them to select active clips 1-8. So if I need to check loop points or something, I can check a track by hitting the clip stop button. Plus, this stops me from accidentally killing a clip. The buttons are the same MIDI note, they show up as E2 on channels 1-8. ...
