I always re-boot my mac to os 9.2 for use with Live. Did'nt seem to mater what I tried, just could not get OSX to run Live as effectivly as OS9. Just my 2 cents.

It took 4 hours and 2 minutes to download-good thing I 've got nothing better to do at work today

Nice stuff Mosca, perfect listening for a snowy, gray winters day in Chicago.

More of an "dubplate" cutter than true vinyl though.

Re: Well ummmm

If I had an Emac here I would have already  . This is not my PC / it's an Athalon with inbuilt sound /no midi etc ... My 100% hardware setup is over the other side of the room 8O . I wanted some input from Mac users here. So unless I buy an Emac first and try it out later I have no hope in he...

I imagine the 1.25 g4 will be about twice as fast and I've been told that effects like reverb are harder on the processer and have less to do with the amount of ram. Is this true? Is this correct - sample playback has more to do with amount of ram whereas effects and synths are more dependent on pr...

Hey B-Man,
Go here

http://www.ableton.com/index.php?main=downloads

and download the movie under the "otheres" section. It is very helpful and should give you a better grasp of what live does.

I'm using the 800MHZ with a gig of RAM and works pretty good. Can't run more than 8 clips with much effects, but it's a lot more powerful than running it on my 500MHZ TiBook, which woould max out the CPU at about 4 clips with a few effects.

800Mhz eMac
1 gig RAM
OS 9.2
Live version 2.1

Runs prety smooth, got to take it easier on the effect tho, or it maxes ou the CPU.

Go with a G4. Get the 15" with the 1GHz processor if you can afford it. Also, max out the RAM. You will be much happier in the end with the G4 over the G3 processors. I've got the 500MHz Titanium model and Live runs fine until I pile on the VST effects, then the stutters and flutters start.

I'm using the M-Audio Oxygen 8, and yeah, it is built pretty cheap, but does a decent job.

I'm saving my pennies for the UC-33, I'd prefer the faders it has over the knobs on the Oxygen 8.

Anyone know the list price of the Korg microkontrol?
