i did the preference delete trick (/System/Library/Extensions/IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext/) on my 1.83 macbook and didn't see much of a difference. the performance test gave me 38% before and 37% after. it did however drop battery life by half. the macbook is great. the only real problem i've notice...

gomi, yeah that'd be my best guess. from the looks of the hacks people were doing it was as simple as changing a few numbers, so apple could have fixed it easily. that would explain why the macbook pro gets worse cpu % than the macbook in live (it hasn't had an update to fix the problem yet). tomper...

kenn, yep that's with restarting. it would probably be a more significant number with a higher cpu load, but still not enough for me to want to monkey with things. i read some threads on the apple site that discussed the specifics of what was going on with this extension, and they were very computer...

re: voiding the warranty...i'm just repeating what the employee said. but when pressed who knows what they'd do with a repair claim. at the store they were a little unfamiliar with the concept of how easy it was to exchange hard drives... so for them its better safe than sorry. my best guess is thro...

hey all, just got back from the mac store in seattle where i loaded up the live demo and performance test on a few machines...don't count on total accuracy, as i didn't make sure the machines were all set to the performance test specs: macbook 1.83, 1gig ram: 40% macbook 2.0, 1gig ram: 39% macbook p...

use the app called 'audio midi setup'...in the main window double click on the network icon (if there isn't one you can create it? can't remember)...that's where all the info is. use that in conjunction with the earlier posted link and you should be set. its pretty well hidden but its all built into...

yeah...the plug name is misleading. its actually a midi controlled audio gater. so note on opens the gate and note off closes it. i set it up to be controlled by the mpc with a note scale midi effect filtering all but one pad...so 15 pads for samples and one for gating a channel in live. http://dest...

yo cuz, ya, remote is enabled. i can assign a note to control mute/solo/etc but it just makes it blip on momentarily with the note on message, not on and off with the note on and off messages. i just want to kick it transformer style, either with mute or with the midi gater effect. midi gater prefer...

midi routing questions
i have a few quick midi questions i'm hoping can be answered. 1: i can't seem to get midi routing set up correctly to use destroy fx's midi gater. i am setting it up with the midi gater on '1 audio' (with monitor set to 'auto'). sending midi from '2 midi' (with monitor set to 'on') to '1 audio'. i g...
