Re: Pretty basic - seemingly unable to create a New Project?

You can't create a new project within a current project. You're not trying to create a new project inside the Live library (which is itself, confusingly, a project) are you? I think I may be missing something really obvious or fundamental here.. so bear with me. I open up Live, navigate to the File...

Re: Pretty basic - seemingly unable to create a New Project?

Top left: File Menu > New Live Set. Or hit apple/command-N Thanks, but I think maybe I didn't explain myself well enough. A new set is no problem. I want to create a New Project . This makes all the difference in organizing your sets, which is the big issue I have right now. So, since for some reas...

Pretty basic - seemingly unable to create a New Project?

In the past I've been pretty disorganized with regards to projects, files, and the like, and i'd like to change that. Well, I seemingly can't, despite my best intentions. I can't for the life of me create a New Project in Live. As far as I know, and as far as the Manual explains(yes i've actually re...

Re: Quicktime requirement

I'm not too thrilled with having to load all that stuff either into Live, but it's for their video support. Since you can edit and sync to movies it's required. It would be nice to be able to turn this off for people who have no need of it. Professional software does have a lot of extras, and along...

Quicktime requirement

I'm sorry, but perhaps someone could explain to me the rationale behind requiring this bloated piece of software being installed, in order to do the simplest tasks of importing an mp3 into ableton?

i thought that this was supposed to be a professional bit of software. please tell me i'm wrong.

i really hope so, but the purchase was made via fax(and 2 years ago at that) ... so i just don't know how likely it is that they would have a record of it still on hand.

well, thanks so far!

Live suddenly stops being unlocked, reverts to demo mode?

hey guys, i wasn't sure where to put this, as its probably not a bug per se, but something has gone quite wrong just now. my computer froze while working in Live, and i had to reboot. upon rebooting, Live now just reverts to demo mode, and demands i re-unlock the thing. i'm using version 5.2 btw. no...

question about the wiki videos for Live. just browsing through them and maybe i've done something completely wrong, but it appears as though every video attributed to ableton.com(as opposed to the VTC.com ones) does not take you to anything realted to the topic or even ableton at all - they all appe...

Think about it this way, how long do you have to stand there trying to beat match a track with cdj's before you drop it in? zero. i never work that out in the cue, i usually just start playing it immediately and work the pitch control to compensate as i go. this way i never know the "right&quo...

It's not just audio. Live is incredibly powerful for sequencing, controlling, and performing video and lighting while DJing. The synergistic effect of making all three work together, when done well, is much greater than the sum of the parts. IMO, it's where Live can't be compared to traditional DJ ...

I've only done 2 mixes with live so far (techno/progressive kind of stuff). I'd say for 95% of the track I only use one marker at 1.1.1. If that's the case I can warp a track in 20 seconds or so. Sometimes though, even dance tracks are kinda fluctuating in tempo so for the hard ones I do the loop a...

I thought Id try use live since I could had a few tricks in their + it nice to control the fades between tracks. Whats happened is i've spent hours warping t...

You're right. If all you want to do is play somebody else's tracks, Live probably isn't the best application for you. To get the most out of Live, there is some work involved, too. errrr, if that was referring to my post, you do realize that your comment has nothing to do with what i just said? its...
