In fact, I do in this manner, but I hoped that Live worked like Pro Tools where is not necessary record an additional audio track, but the hardware are rendered during the bounce.
This could be an interesting upgrade for the next release.

I use Live under OSX 10.4.6 with my last generaton PW regurarly and it's fine...try to unistall the VST and see what happen.
