Re: Software synths for live performance latency

I'm inclined to think there's something else going on here. Like ... you have a fancy multi-band finaliser on your outputs or something. A compressor with lookahead, or some other beast like Ozone 8 across the master. Ding ding ding! So I've cut down my latency over 70% at this point. I'll have to ...

Software synths for live performance latency

Hi, I've been trying to play a number of software synths through my Ableton set via MIDI controllers and am getting some pretty intense and unpredictable latency. My audio output latency is down to 5-6ms but the playback through the synths is much greater. This occurs consistently with plugins and A...

Re: Ableton 8 will not expose VST/AU parameters

Thanks for the reply. With the preset idea, this will actually be an improvement.

Ableton 8 will not expose VST/AU parameters

Hi,

After upgrading to Ableton 8 (Live) I have found it a bit cumbersome to work with VST/AU plugins. This is due to parameters not being exposed in Arrangement view for envelopes unless the control is clicked on first. Is this by design? I miss the big list.

Thanks,
~Dan

My FCB setup has 8 of the 10 pedals tied to the play button of 8 different tracks which are all constantly armed and tied to different inputs - this is used to live loop a different band member depending on which pedal was hit. The other two pedals are scene up and scene down (which are IAC scripted...

I do the same with an FCB1010. Each track has a In - Auto - Off mode. What I do is I set up one track and call it "Input" and make its monitor mode "On" . Then I set up about 8 other tracks, have all their input routed from my "Input" track, and all their monitor modes...

What I have been doing is just making a bunch of tracks and then arming them all. Thanks Stefan, this tip has really helped me make the FCB1010 into a super-efficient live looping tool without having to use any of the nutty macro schemes floating around here. I'm using this for looping with a live ...

Hade, I'm an Ableton newbie but maybe I can steer you in a new direction regarding the FCB. I don't know if your giant set with 50-80 scenes is the most efficient way to do what you're trying to do, but someone else will have to help you with that. However, if you want to free up some pedals and sti...

Not directly yet, but at the very least it can keep any kind of background or system processes out of Live's way, which helps a lot.

Is it possible to use the same hardware controller to send Mackie commands AND normal MIDI map notes? I'd like to take advantage of the Undo but leave the rest behind.

-bumparoo- I've made some progress by combing every last inch of these forums. The tip to have all of the tracks armed all of the time helped a LOT with live looping with the FCB. Now to loop a track, I just hit pedal 1-8, start playing, then hit again to stop and I have the perfect length loop in t...
