Re: Mountain Lion

I'm taking my working laptop, wrapping it in tape and writing "Never Ever Upgrade" all over it.

Re: I nearly pooped my pants making this

That's the reason you don't layer the brown note into your sub bass.

Now, if you excuse me...

Re: is the tech killing technique?

Check out this movie: https://vimeo.com/34608191 On some points I agreed completely, others I could debate, but a part that really resonated with me was when they talk about how someone in a recording studio can deliver a less than stellar performance and expect the engineer to fix it. I've been in ...

Re: Ms Pinky VST

What mixer are you using? The big problem with recording any DVS output out of a simple dj mixer is that it won't give you separate outputs for what you do on deck A and B after the crossfader, only the mixed output. If your mixer has a post-fader FX loop (like the Ranes do), you can use the FX send...

Re: Posting in Link Your Music is like talking to yourself...

Not really, it's just kind of shit seeing that something you work so hard on get buried in the posts deluge in Link Your Music (and I did post there first with no response). I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels like this. The problem with it is that it can't grow because it's just a subforum with...

Re: Posting in Link Your Music is like talking to yourself...

^ This. I'm loving it. It takes away the hassle of setting up a storefront and gives you a lot of options on how you want to distribute your music. I'd say the hardest part of doing a physical release is figuring out the shipping, and you should really look for different options. I just found out CD...

Re: URGENT!!! Live crashes when rendering + deadline!!!

For Live crashing during render, you should try repairing your disk permissions and verifying your disk from Disk Utility. Do your resampling and back up your machine before verifying the HD, I had a bad issue where, once Disk Utility found my HD filesystem had issues, I couldn't boot from it anymor...

Re: URGENT!!! Live crashes when rendering + deadline!!!

If it still doesn't work, you can resample into Live, then open the new file in another app to do the conversion. Create a new track in Live and set its input to Resampling, which will record whatever comes out of Live's Master Out. Input mode doesn't matter, but I do recommend muting the track so y...

Re: Normalizing bounces detract from audio quality?

Sounds like what you're normalizing for is pointless and even makes you work more, so I don't see why you need to do it other than to have big loud looking waveforms that you're going to end up turning back down anyway. If you need the larger waveforms to edit in Logic, go ahead, though I'd rather l...

Export as AIFF or WAV with the original file's sample rate and bit depth, just make it mono or stereo.

Re: Turntable

What turntable model is it? Chances are, if it has RCA outputs and a ground wire, you'll need a Phono preamp to get it sounding right. The phono preamp both rises the level of the phono line and applies a very steep EQ curve known as the RIAA curve, which compensates for its inverse being applied du...
