Not trying to sound like Sasha at all...

wow trying to be like sasha, that is really thinking outside of the box. what a ridiculous waste of Ableton's time for people to have ambitions like this. You should surrender your copy of Live to one of the crackheads who might me making something original. Pfffft. I didn't look at it that way at ...

I doubt anyone is still reading this thread; nonetheless

Obviously you've never had to work for a living. Someone get this guy a Parasite of the Year award. Okay dumbasses, here's how things work in the Real World: The more copies of a digital product you steal, the more that honest people pay to recoup the research, development and production costs. So,...

Thank you Ableton!

...for disabling the anonymous posting option! Looking forward to a much friendlier, more helpful and less noisy forum. Anyway, a technical question: a friend was showing the Live 3 demo (that I gave him) to a colleague and he claims he could not change the tempo in session view. I don't understand ...

My advice for this sort of situation is to do a remix competition. The first thing about these is that there is a definite deadline and this is a good cure for procrastination (to which I myself am highly prone). The second thing is that the samples they give you may suggest ideas that may never ha...

Non-4/4 meters: forget it!

Neither Reason nor Live handles non-4/4 at all gracefully. I basically don't even try anymore, but when the meter changes or if I'm using non-4/4 I use something like Sonar or Vision.

I ain't no svelte thing either...

This is hilarious! Not just the Ableton T, but when Propellerheads offered the Reason T shirt I got one of those (which is a great design) but even the 'extra large' size wouldn't fit anyone larger than a 44 kilo weakling...so it sits on a shelf; maybe my 10 year nephew will enjoy it!

Fan are we?

Nicely written review. You obviously put a lot of work and thought into it. At first I was sort of on the fence about the upgrade, since there didn't seem to be anything in Live 4 that I thought was essential. But if it's just as fast as Live 3 (on Windows), adds MIDI sequencing and I can now use VS...

Re: Live 4.0.1 is buggy & crashes

You know, I thought people were being too hard on Andru until I went back and re read the original post and responses. He did indeed over react, and basically trashed the entire release because of one bug that happened to be important to him although irrelevant to 99% of other users out there. He we...

Fixed

What I did was to run Regclean.exe after removing Live 2.0.3. Then you reboot, go to Folder Options -> File Types and set the .als type back to "Default" and voila...everything is fixed... If the same problem occurs if in the future I remove Live 3 in favor of Live 4 I'll try the same fix.

I did it too...

Don't know if it makes you feel any better: but it took me a while to realize I had to highlight a time range (in any track or combination) to set the render range. I think I finally figured it out when I read the manual. The other thing that drove me nuts was moving a clip from Session to Arrange v...

Win2K: .als icons become generic after removing Live 2.0.3

For a long time I've had 2.0.3 on my system. I finally realized there's no point in keeping it since I have been using 3.0.1 for months and it's been as solid as a rock... After I removed 2.0.3, weirdly, all my .als files now have a generic Windows document icon. I went to Folder Options>File Types ...

"biogen" and his ilk = jackasses

Some good arguments in this thread as to why I pray Ableton someday limits this forum to registered users. Live's manual is an "acquired taste" and some of its concepts are not immediately apparent. The first poster did have quite a bit of frustration and some attitude but it seemed pretty...

Browser length/info suggestions

1. I use a lot of loops and samples of different lengths. It would be nice if the browser listing had the file name on top of a colored horizontal bar whose length represented the lenght of the sample! 2. The color of the bar could represent other attributes of the file that you could select; or per...

like the poster above, I use a mac for the internet and a PC for live. My PC has never even seen the internet! Glad to see I'm not the only person doing this. I generally only download stuff from reputable places (e.g., software updates from the manufacturers sites) but even if I go crazy and downl...

Go check the feature suggestion forum...

I started a thread on this back in March that has seen some recent postings. I agree that this is not the worst forum on the net, but as the number of people who discover it increase the noise to signal ratio is going to go up. I wrote a long screed about why this isn't about "freedom of speach...
