Re: ** How many people actually MIX songs in Ableton ? **

haven't read this whole post, not trying to incite any arguments, or get into audio engine discussions, only actual features. A few questions: Is the OP's statement regarding a 4 GB RAM limit on Ableton Live for reals? (Curious to know if my 10 GB RAM on a Windows 7 64-bit machine is being used--it ...

Re: scroll wheel zoom in arranger

Personally I like the click and drag cuz I use a laptop, but I agree that the mousewheel support should be built in. If anything, atleast a checkbox in the prefs that you can turn off and on :D. Why not have both click and drag *and* mousewheel... This is a basic thing.. Basic indeed. Word, both is...

scroll wheel zoom in arranger

Okay, this has been discussed many times before, but I really need help here. I used to use mousewheel.exe and more recently Vitamin L as workarounds in Ableton Live, to be able to use the scroll wheel on the mouse to zoom in and out in arrangerview. This is a STANDARD FEATURE in most other DAW and ...

Re: Vitamin L: 100+ shortcuts to speed up your workflow (a lot).

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't kept up with this thread for a while, been busy with a lot of other things. I am definitely planning an update for Live 8, and then a Windows 7 compatibility fix. Probably some user customizations so that you can at least choose which shortcuts you want to use. May hav...

Re: Vitamin L: 100+ shortcuts to speed up your workflow (a lot).

guess I've been pretty spoiled with my RME+XP combo all these years down at 6-7 ms on most Live sets. It's actually not really unusable latency on the new machine, I guess part of me is just annoyed at the number itself in light of the fact I had myself convinced the new system was going to kick ass...

Re: Vitamin L: 100+ shortcuts to speed up your workflow (a lot).

no sweat Tone, it may be that I haven't tweaked everything just right (yet), or maybe some weird Multiface issue--haven't had enough time to fuly diagnose. Stuff works, but wheras I was able to almost always be at 128 samples on my XP laptop (about 7 ms total latency), it seem like I need to step up...

starting to think a bit more research was in order before jumping to Windows 7 64-bit, crap.

Re: Vitamin L: 100+ shortcuts to speed up your workflow (a lot).

I'm in a state of shock--I've been hapily using Vitamin L in Live 6, 7, and 8 for years just for the scroll wheel zoom in arrangerview, at the core of my audio workflow on my XP 32-bit machine. I get a 64-bit Windows 7 machine and poof, it's gone--Vitamin L doesn't work on my system. Is there any ot...

Re: new windows 7 machine=letdown--help!

this is all great stuff, thanks one and all! I think the DPC latency app (thx, Khazul!) keyed me into the crappy Dell wireless PCIe card possibly being the suspect, will have to verify tonight, but that seemed to help, as did the Back Viper tips and generally just stripping things down. Will test so...

Re: new windows 7 machine=letdown--help!

crap, a few other things to note--I only got Windows 7 Home Premium, and am on an older PCI card with the Multiface I. I do have the OS tweaked for music with "windows classic" in full effect...any other things to check on?

new windows 7 machine=letdown--help!

I recently got a new Dell Studio XPS 8100 Windows 7 desktop (i5 2.8 processor, 10 GB RAM), and didn't do much (any) homework in term of Ableton working well, I just assumed things could only improve from my current 3-year-old toshiba tecra laptop XP pro setup with 3 GB of RAM. Using the same RME Mul...

Re: UAD 2 w/Ableton 8?

It's alright but, to be honest, there's a lot of hype around the plugs, they are good, but it's a big investment, the hardware isn't going to be aorund forever and there is equally as good stuff native these days. Fatso is alright, manley pretty cool, the spaceech you might as well get soundtoys IM...

Re: UAD 2 w/Ableton 8?

I hardly use my uad's anymore, prefer other plugins And i really can't dig it's latency. Any others with Latency issues?!? I've got a fast rig with my RME multiface usually at 64 or 128 samples--total latency either 3.5 or 7 ms. I do a lot of live instrumentation, so anything more than this latency...
