Re:

Curiously I've found mixing is pretty automatic now that I mix harmonically. Preparation takes aaages though, but once that's down its very very simple. Harmonic mixing is a no brainer, so to get a good mix all you need to know is if the song would roughly fit the dancefloor, and the rest is a simp...

ok ill use this complex mode, when you say chance the tempo, you mean of each individual track from its original tempo ? Yes, that's right. as i will leave the main tempo at 125bpm then record the mix into the arrangement window, then i can automate some bass cuts etc and get a nice mix so i can bo...

any more tips ?? Don't use Re-pitch mode, use Complex mode instead. It does use more CPU, but it's not like you'll be playing 10 tracks at once; so unless your computer is older than 3 years, or a complete bag of sh*t, then it should be fine. Try it, it allows you to alter the tempo but keep the tr...

Can't you create and save asd files with your clips even in the demo version? If you didn't want to waste an unlock? J good point, becase I think you can! Since Live makes the .asd files just by previewing clips in the Live browser, I'd think that warping them and making the changes stick should wo...

...but you can have Live on your desktop as well, though. It's licensed for two computers, if I'm not mistaken. Just transfer the .asd files back to the laptop into the folders where the samples are. I'm guessing that works and you don't need to transfer the samples too, if they're already on the l...

Seperate, license-free, mini app for warping tracks offline.

I download all my DJ tracks on my desktop. I sort, rename, store, archive and back-up my tracks on my desktop. Ableton Live is on my laptop (to use it at gigs, obviously). If I want to warp tracks I have to go and get my laptop, find somewhere ergonomically viable to work, transfer my new tracks ont...

How do I map Scene control to MIDI?

I have an A&H Xone 3D, which I'm very happy with. My only problem is that for some reason the A&H default Live template doesn't seem to have anything mapped to the MIDI controls, not that I really want to use the default template. The only thing I wanted to use from the default template is t...

I haven't tried it yet. But Ableton Tech Support have recommended that I try it, apparently Live will use the Quicktime MPEG decoder instead of the Windows Media Player one, if it's there.

You're right. Maybe I should be a bit more positive about a software package that cost me £300 and is, because of the bugs, incapable of doing what I bought it for.

Dude, I'm having the exact same problem. A lot of people are and Ableton seem to be doing f*ck all about it. Apparently, if you convert your MP3 files to wav, then it won't do it. Unfortunately, my laptop only has an 80GB HDD and doesn't have the room to convert the 100's of MP3s to wav. Some DJ too...
