Ableton Summer Music Challenge

Ableton challenges students around the world to get creative with music and technology this summer

Berlin, Germany, June 17th, 2010

Over the years, technology-assisted musical learning has become more and more accessible to an ever broader audience. This could not be more true in schools all around the world, where the integration of creative music technology is giving students even more ways to develop and express their ideas. The Ableton Summer Music Challenge is an attempt to support this cause by asking students to get creative with music over their summer vacations and perhaps help their school out in the process.

Taking the Ableton Summer Music Challenge is easy: First, students upload their tracks to SoundCloud to enter the competition. Then, they share their track with the world via their favorite social networks. The tracks with the most plays by August 31, 2010 will be presented to the official Ableton Summer Music Challenge Jury. The Jury will then select the grand prize winners. There will be two competition age groups in the Ableton Summer Music Challenge: under 15 and 15 to 18.

Prizes for schools and students include:

  • Ableton Live Intro audio production platform
  • Novation Launchpad midi controller
  • Novation NIO 2/4 audio interface
  • SoundCloud pro account (1 year)
  • Loopmasters sample collections

The Ableton Summer Music Challenge runs until August 31, 2010.

About Novation

Born in 1992, Novation has grown to be one of the world's leading manufacturers of MIDI controllers, digital DJ tools and synths. From the much-loved Nova synths of the 1990s to the music software controllers of today, Novation's aim has remained unchanged: to empower music makers with the necessary tools to create, innovate and push boundaries.

Educators are increasingly turning to Novation because of its build quality and usability. Students also associate Novation with their musical heroes as our hardware is used by music makers across the globe, from bedroom producers to chart-topping artists. We continue to interact with the people who have shaped Novation--the music-makers, performers, producers and DJs who rely on our equipment--in order to design the best hardware for making and performing music.
