Maya Consuelo Sternel (Berlin)

Maya Consuelo Sternel is a DJ, producer, audio engineer and live performer as well as head of Rudel Records. She teaches at Yoyosonic Music Institute Berlin, Germany. Maya gained invaluable production experience working as a sound engineer at Unique Recording Studios in New York, where she assisted many sessions with numerous artists, from Run DMC, Coolio and Tricky to Leni Stern and Joe Lynn Turner.

Maya produces in a wide variety of electronic music styles, combining hip-hop and jungle flavored beats, deep rooted, reggae-related bass lines blended with subtle harmonic shifts to a unique assemblage of urban music. She composed turntable concerts for philharmonic orchestra and DJ as well as soundtrack contributions for the film "kurz und schmerzlos" by Fatih Akim. She has performed at European venues including the Sonar festival in Barcelona, the Transmediale in Berlin and at the grand opening of the "Pinakothek der Moderne" in Munich.

Maya has been a dedicated Ableton Live user since version one. Since 1997 she has taught various music production courses at schools and universities nationwide, like the "ZKM" in Karlsruhe and the "Bergische Universität" in Wuppertal. Her lectures and hand-on sessions cover all aspects of Ableton Live, although she specializes in music production, remixing, live performing and DJing. She offers workshops and trainings for groups from beginner to professional level and is available for training sessions and workshops on demand.
