London School of Sound (London)

The London School of Sound (LSS) was established in 2004 to provide advanced training in music technology and production in a wide range of formats, from just a few days of intensive classes to the full two-year diploma, with options to study part-time or full-time. The aim of the school is to teach the skills that audio engineers, remixers and music producers actually need to develop successful careers, so the courses are rooted in real-life situations, with a high load of practical work required in and out of classes.

Aside from the obvious advantages of living and studying in central London, close to some of the best clubs and live music venues in the world, the school's mix of vintage and cutting-edge instruments and the history of its recording studio, originally used by Pink Floyd, Joy Division, Soul II Soul, Pulp and many others, make for a truly unique learning environment that inspires creativity and encourages experimentation.

Only six places are available in each class, and some courses are subject to a preliminary interview, so it's a good idea to contact the school as early as possible to reserve a place.

Ableton Live is the subject of two intensive three-day courses--Remixing & Performing with Ableton Live and Production & Arrangement with Ableton Live--and is also taught as part of the longer DJ Remixer Certificate and Advanced Studio Techniques module.
