City Lit in London to offer a new advanced course on Ableton Live

Due to high demand, City Lit in Central London has just scheduled a new course, "Ableton Live Plus: Advanced Techniques," to run from April 20 to July 7.

Topics covered in the course include:

  • Building your own Racks and using the chain selector to morph between effects and instruments, as well as MIDI-mapping their controls for use in real time;
  • Manipulating and creating sounds using oscillators, filters, envelopes and LFOs in synthesizers and samplers;
  • Setting up dummy clips to easily apply complex combinations of effects to any clips in your sets;
  • Using Slicer to chop samples and send parts to a Drum Rack submix to add dynamics and spatial effects to your music;
  • Using sidechaining in compressors and other effects to manipulate one sound with the dynamics of another;
  • Importing video as an accompaniment to your music, or to create a soundtrack.

The course runs on Monday evenings from 6:30 - 9:30pm and costs £180 (full fee) or £47 (qualifying concessions).

Full details can be found on the City Lit website.
