John Lennon Songwriting Contest

The John Lennon Songwriting Contest deadline for Session 2 is approaching. Enter your songs by December 15th for your chance to win.

Ableton is a proud sponsor of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, an international competition open to amateur and professional songwriters who submit entries in any of twelve musical categories, including Rock, Country, Jazz, Pop, World, Rhythm & Blues, Hip Hop, Gospel/Inspirational, Latin, Electronic, Folk, and Children's. Now in its twelfth year, the JLSC is open year-round and features two sessions that award over $330,000 in cash and prizes to seventy-two Finalists, twenty-four Grand Prize Winners, twelve Lennon Award Winners, and one winner of the ultimate prize--the Maxell Song of the Year, the winner of which receives a check for $20,000 courtesy of Maxell Corporation and lots of great software and hardware.

You don't need a professional recording. Entries will be judged on originality, melody, composition and lyrics (when applicable). Instrumental compositions are encouraged. Some of the prizes, which vary depending on the level of the accomplishment, include studio equipment from Godin Guitars, Roland/Edirol/Boss, Ampeg, Crate and Audio-Technica; one thousand CDs in full color with premium four-panel digipaks courtesy of Disc Makers; music software from Ableton, Sibelius and Propellerhead; and gift certificates from MusiciansFriend.com. In addition, one band is selected annually from the Rock category to perform on the Warped Tour for one week. There is also an opportunity to win an all-inclusive fly-away package to perform at the NAMM Show in January in Anaheim, California.

If you'd like to enter a song but don't have recording software, download the free Ableton Live 7 Trial Version here.
