Winter NAMM 2006 Report

Ableton Unwraps Apple Surprises

Ableton kicked off Winter NAMM with exciting news: the imminent release of Live 5.2, offering native support for Apple's new Mac-Intel processors. Live 5.2 will be among the first audio applications available for Apple's new machines. Dual core processor support was also confirmed for Live 6, due in Q3 of 2006. More great news from NAMM: Ableton Live received repeat awards for Best Digital Audio Sequencer of 2006 from Electronic Musician magazine and Best Performance Software of 2006 from Remix magazine.

Other NAMM highlights included a "Future of DJing" panel with Ableton CEO Gerhard Behles and celebrity DJs Junior Sanchez, Junkie XL and Sasha. The weekend also featured inspiring Ableton artist clinics such as beatboxing phenom Kid Beyond's live looping clinic, MC Rahlo's lessons in hip hop production and drummer Shawn Pelton's studio stories about using Live on major label recordings. In addition, Ableton Live gurus Adam Jay and Steve Nalepa provided hundreds of Live tips for remixing, recording and performing throughout the weekend.

Thanks to the many visitors — both longtime Live enthusiasts and new fans — who took the time to come and jam with us at the Ableton booth. It was great seeing all of you! Let's do it again soon.
