Same as last year, Ableton is again a sponsor of club Transmediale, a series of club events accompanying the international media art festival Transmediale. The festival will take place in Berlin from January 31st to February 8th.

Club transmediale will present the latest developments in the fields of experimental electronic music intertwined with related media art. Achim Szepanski - in charge of the mille plateaux label - coined the term 'media-music' to describe a process, that challenges traditional musical concepts as it forces us to focus on factors like code, programming, hardware and connectivity to describe and understand contemporary digital music. But it also adds to the increasing interplay of music with other media-formats such as installation, video, motion graphics and design. More and more these aspects grow together by the use of similar hard-and software, the reconciliation of art, science and design as well as the requirements of a specific methodical approach that is able to reflect the media-inherent structures.

The upcoming festival - like the years before - wants to contribute to the further discussion and development of the outlined topics. The festival theme 'Play Global', which provides this year's overall topic for transmediale as well as for club transmediale, will draw the artistic and cultural effects of globalization into focus.

For a more in-depth look, Ableton developer and electronic musician Robert Henke (aka Monolake) will lecture and demonstrate Live 2 on Friday, February 7th at 21hrs in the Lounge.

On Saturday, February 8th, Monolake (Imbalance, DE) and other renowned artists Akufen (Force Tracks, CA) and Jacek Sienkiewicz (WMF Records, Cocoon, PL) will perform Live sets on stage.
