An experienced electronic musician and passionate educator with a Masters in Interactive Composition from the University of Melbourne, Matt has been creating and performing electronic music with Ableton Live for over a decade. With a knowledge that spans numerous genres of electronic music, Matt creates lush, heavy and emotional music that takes the listener on a sound-driven journey through fantastical landscapes under the solo moniker of “Martiln”, as exemplified through his ongoing transmedial project REALMS.

A community-minded individual, Matt spent three years at the helm of Melbourne-based music producer community Beat Collective, which provides a safe and inclusive space for music-makers to grow, learn and interact with one-other. As part of this role, Matt hosted numerous community events, fostered the growth of a thriving online community and was invited to speak at EMC in 2019. Matt also ran the Ableton User Group in Melbourne for 2 years from 2022 to 2023.

As an educator with an extensive knowledge of Ableton Live, Matt has a passion for combining the technical and the creative. Having studied both composition and music production at a tertiary level, Matt guides students in breaking down technical and technological barriers in order to achieve their own creative visions. Matt has over 5 years experience delivering lectures, classes and tutorials, as well as writing whole courses and units at a tertiary level at the Australian Institute of Music, the University of Melbourne and COLLARTS.

Matt currently shares his knowledge on music production through his YouTube channel, and offers 1:1 lessons online as well as online courses, all of which can be found through his website.
