Windows Vista
As of Live/Live LE 6.0.9, Ableton officially supports 32-bit Windows Vista. This page should answer any questions you may have about using Live with Vista. We are continually testing and improving our software, and this page will be updated over time to provide additional information.
Yes. All versions of Live 6 / Live LE as of 6.0.9 are compatible with Windows Vista.
All 32-bit versions of Vista are supported. 64-bit versions of Vista may work to an extent, but Ableton does not currently support these versions.
There should be no differences in Live's performance between any of the 32-bit versions of Windows Vista.
There is not a special Live installer for Windows Vista. As of Live 6.0.9, the standard Windows installer will install Live on either Windows XP or Windows Vista.
Ableton is continually evaluating WaveRT but we do not currently support it.
As far as we know, the only issues are cosmetic. Under some circumstances, Live's splash screen doesn't update/redraw correctly during launch. This can create the impression that Live has crashed, and the Task Manager may indicate that Live is not responding. This is not the case, however, and Live should launch normally if given extra time.
Although Ableton has been extensively testing Windows Vista since before its release, we still have much less experience with it than we do with Windows XP or Mac OS X. For this reason, there may be remaining issues that Ableton is simply not aware of yet. We encourage all users to report any issues found during normal usage of Live under Windows Vista. Additionally, please note that although Ableton officially supports Vista, the manufacturers of your audio and/or MIDI hardware may not. If you are using external sound cards or MIDI devices, be sure to check with the manufacturers regarding their Vista support.
