Making music and touring as a solo artist under the moniker “Ben At Work” and a member of band “Passerine”, Ben is a specialist in electronica live performance, synth wizardry, remixing and studio technique. Each project reflects a blend of organic and electronic sounds once described as “galactic soul breaks”. Passionate about sharing his love for the craft, Ben is enabling others to create as a university lecturer for Box Hill Institute’s music and audio production programs. As a devotee to Ableton Live, Ben is also a co-organiser / presenter for the Ableton Live User Group Melbourne, held monthly in the Arts Centre Melbourne (one of the most successful Ableton user groups in the world).
Ben has written and delivered curriculum spanning production, studio technique, songwriting, performance technology solutions and of course, Ableton Live and Push. Whether delivering with big studios and extensive hardware or one-on-one training with a laptop, Ben is passionate about getting the most inspiring results for his students. In addition to current and past lecturing positions (including JMC Academy and Melbourne Polytechnic), Ben has also delivered private industry consultation (playback / show building), guest lecturers and workshops including for clients like AIM, APRA and Arts Centre Melbourne.
