EIC 2 Woodwinds Repair Tool

Post by CarlSeleborg » Tue Dec 04, 2007 5:14 pm

Dear all,

Apparently, some of the EIC 2 DVDs we shipped contain a corrupted
Woodwinds.alp Live Pack. When trying to install this Pack, an error
message explains that the Pack was created with a newer version
of Live. So far, the problem has only been seen on PC.

If you have such a corrupted Woodwinds Pack on your EIC 2 DVD,
please download the EIC Woodwinds Repair Tool (PC, 11 Mb).

The Readme file included in the Zip archive explains the simple
procedure to repair the Woodwinds Pack. To run the tool, simply
double-click on the executable.

We apologize to those affected by this problem for the inconvenience.

Best regards,

Carl

Thanks,

I'm sure the same fix applies. Probably, the EIC2 DVD hasn't been updated yet... perhaps they are getting rid of old stock.

My understanding is that when the EIC2 DVDs were produced, they had a certain number made. It either comes when someone buys it stand alone or part of Live Suite. So, if the people who buy Suite or just EIC2 is lower than the number made, hopefully you see where I'm going with that. The point is that EIC2 is still the same product, while it's a minor inconvenience to have to patch it (on PC) in the grand scheme of thing, it is more cost effective to release a relatively small patch than to have to order a whole new set of discs when the problem can be solved easily.

Perhaps Live 8 should include a message that notifies people of the patch with an option to download it straight away when they install EIC2?

Hi folks,

indeed, it seems that some Live 8 Boxes still have the corrupt Woodwinds package.
You can still use the Repair tool (from the initial posting) to resolve that problem.

For all upcoming boxes the problem should be solved.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Regards
/Alex

They could have either replaced the dodgy DVD or included a DVD with the patch file, either option would have cost about 25p a time which isn't exactly going to break the bank. Not too much to ask for either on a software product that costs £400 or whatever it is.

I had to use it and I agree that this should have been resolved before being put to DVD. Minor inconvenience but still should have been fixed none the less.

I'm not really moaning as I used the tool. Thing is it was supposedly fixed before Live 8 hit the press so it should have been fixed on the DVDs. That's all I was saying.
