Your mission
We make Live, Push and Linkâunique software and hardware for music creation and performance. With these products, our community of users creates amazing things.
Developing and releasing these products makes high demands on the release management. At Ableton, this comprises all aspects of releasing a productâfrom a single commit of code to making sure everything is in the package we wish to deliver and adding the final release to our distribution network.
As Release Engineer your focus is on managing the ongoing releases on a technical level, and on developing and maintaining technical solutions to support the release processes. You work in the team of the release manager, and in close collaboration with developers, product owners, delivery managers, documentation writers, and quality assurance.
Your responsibilities
- You will coordinate releases for Live, Push, sound content and Max for Live
- You will maintain and develop software tools for release management
- You will support in mapping out timelines and road maps with the team product owners, delivery managers and commerce and help in identifying technical interdependencies and conflicts between releases and products
- You will work with developers, product owners, and delivery managers to understand the specific release need and content
- You will work with quality assurance to identify risks and provide and build releases necessary for a productâs release cycle such as alpha phases, beta phases, and release phases
- You will work with the development-tools team to make sure that the Continuous Integration system supports all current release needs
Your profile
- Youâre familiar with project management in a software engineering context and can interact with several stakeholders
- You are proficient in git and GitHub (including branching strategies)
- You have good experience in programming in some modern language (preferably Python and/or JavaScript)
- You understand CI and tools like Jenkins
- You understand API standards like GraphQL, and tools like Postman
- You feel home on a Unix environment, and optionally, you like Emacs (Org mode)
- You are interested in music technology
