Your mission

As a User Researcher for the Live Team at Ableton, you will be an integral part of how we build outstanding products. You will be at the heart of a collaborative process that enables our teams of product experts, designers and developers to build on the success of the Live software. Your work will deepen our understanding of our users and help shape product and design strategy.

You will build long-term relationships with our users and faithfully represent their perspective in the development process. You will help our teams to gather insights across the whole development cycle – from early exploration, through to prototyping and eventually the released product. You will help your colleagues to observe the user experience with their own eyes. You will help us to further develop our user research practice and the impact it has in the Live Team as well as in other parts of the company.

Your responsibilities

  • You will collaborate with your team to identify and prioritize research needs and drive the user research efforts to address them.
  • You will help the team pick the right method to create relevant insights to inform the team’s current objectives.
  • You will conduct generative research through field trips and interviews with music makers, evaluate the desirability and usability of prototypes and concepts and collect long-term feedback on new and existing experiences.
  • You will screen, recruit and book participants for specific panels.
  • You will facilitate analysis and synthesis of insights that help the team take action to improve our products.
  • You will drive the reporting and communication of insights in collaboration with the team.
  • You will maintain and improve shared research resources and practice with other User Researchers at Ableton.

Your profile

  • You have relevant experience with different qualitative and quantitative methods of research to investigate attitudinal and behavioural aspects of user experiences.
  • You are interested in deeply understanding the music making domain and empathising with music makers.
  • You have a self-organized mindset. You are willing to start a conversation and don’t wait for others to approach you.
