Juan Fernando has been working in music for the past 17 years, and has vast experience in music production & engineering, music technology, teaching, and as a multi-instrumentalist. This allows him to experiment with lots of different genres and, currently, he specializes in composing, producing and working with Ecuadorian traditional rhythms, fusing them with electronic music styles.

Since 2011, Juan Fernando is a professor at Escuela de Música at Universidad de las Américas (UDLA) in Quito, Ecuador. Since then he’s created the first Ableton Live course included in an officially recognised curriculum in the country. Additionally, Juan Fernando teaches various music production, music technology and engineering courses for performance, music composition and music production majors.

Juan Fernando discovered Ableton Live in 2006, and since then he’s been using it as one of his main instruments and music production tools. Over the course of his creative voyage during these past years, he’s incorporated Push 2 and Max for Live to enhance his performances.

He teaches Ableton Live, Push 2 and Max for Live at beginner and intermediate levels in large group classes, and gives one-to-one custom classes and tutorials for advanced Ableton Live users. Recently, he created the Ableton Live Club workshop at Escuela de Música UDLA, where musicians can share their knowledge to create an electro-acoustic ensemble using Live as the main instrument.

Currently, Juan Fernando continues with his work as composer and producer of the project Ecuadorian Grooves.
