why use max for live for integrating video?

I am looking to add projector video to my live songs. My research has shown that you can add the .mov files directly into the live set using a blank audio clip and dragging the video into it. Seems simple enough... So, why do I see a lot of people saying that max for live is optimum for integrating video with your live set when it seems to me that just the regular Ableton Live software does a pretty great job at this? I'm more or less asking for any users out there that can show me resources that clarify why max for live is so good at adding video to your set and how I might do this using max for live, as opposed to what I have found for the standard Ableton software? Thanks in advance for any insight here.
