Why aren't my ableton project files opening?

Whenever I try to open a project file, a dialog box appears saying it could not be opened, without giving any reason why.

Also, whenever I try to save a project, the "there was an error closing the file..." dialog box appears and I can't save.

I tried deleting the preferences.cfg file and re-installing Ableton to no avail. I'm basically stuck until this gets resolved.

    I have the same problem with my Win7 64-bit computer (Live 9.1.2 -. 32Bit).
Could not Open any older Live Sets (one week old sets, etc.)
I spent days trying to fix the problem with the Ableton support.
    No success!
Yesterday I start my WIN7 system totally new, much work/time, not yet re-installed all plug-ins.
The live sets go up again.
But I made the mistake of installed again (!) the 9.1.2. Version.
    I'm going back to 9.1.1.

Then install piece by piece, the new plug-ins and see if the problem reappears.
I do not trust the 9.1.2. Not version!

The Ableton support could not help me. Perplexity!

    Test the following times:
Start Ableton holding down the "Alt" key (Windows)!
Then all plug-ins are in the "Bypass"!
Or turn off the plugin folder and put a different plugin path!
And then let's see if you can load the live sets!
