where are the samples of my custom drum racks & intruments stored?

hi,

i'd really like to know where ableton places the soundfiles when i create a drum rack or sampler instrument of my own. i guess they are not found in the .adg / .adv files, judging by their filesizes.

any clue? thanks a ton!

file structures can vary depending on how you set things up. If you do not want to crawl through all folders do this: create a project file with a specific name, then search your hard drive for that file. The search results will allow you to open the folder the file is stored in.

errm, while above method certainly works it totally slipped my mind that there is an easier way from within Live itself. Go the Live file manager, find or search within the Live file manager the project, sound or whatever you want to find. Once you got to the file you are looking for select it with the mouse and right click on it. This will show up the context menu, choose the option 'Show in Explorer' and Live will then open the Windows Explorer (likewise in MAC) and the folder the file in question is stored at the computer. Use the Live preferences to customise certain file and folder settings/paths.
