What Preset Subcategory Names Does the CATEGORIES Browser Recognize?

I have an extensive library of presets (both created and downloaded) from my Live 8 Library that I am trying to migrate into my Live 9 User Library, so that they'll be properly categorized and searchable in my browser.

I've noticed that Sounds/Racks/etc. in the CATEGORIES browser are placed in subgroups according to the names of the first subdirectory they're found in - for instance: if, under User Library > Presets > Audio Effects > Audio Effect Rack I create a folder called "Performance & DJ" and then put some audio effect rack presets in it, these will show up in my CATEGORIES browser under the subcategory "Performance & DJ".

However, I've also noticed that you can't just invent your own subcategories.  For instance, in that same directory I created a folder called "CovOps" (for my old Covert Operators effects racks) but the CATEGORIES browser just lumped them under the subcategory of "Others" (alongside all the other presets inside of folders which I gave custom names).

I'd like to have my presets be as organized as possible, but I can't find in any of the official documentation a list of which names will be recognized as subcategories by the CATEGORIES browser.  If there's any way to organize my presets according to my own custom subcategories in the browser, that would really be ideal, but I'd settle for just having a list of supported names.

    HI,

oh that means no own folder ....under user PLACES-USER LIBARY...!

I test your workflow and  a other issue with the browser comes up .

thats is  not working  with the browser that´s a fight  !

    Ö.^`

    -----

and lumped is right word..I found under CATEGORIES-AUDIO EFFECTS-A.E. RACK-

max devices ..without that they screened  in sub-folder´s.....

thats all not really as aspected...

playing instruments works only for core libary is the same hack...

saved instruments under USER LIBARY can only be pre listened when they saved as as LIVE clip as .alc format type..

I think Live´s CLIPS index under CATEGORIES-for   Live CLIPS workaround   is really new for me and I see a change to store sounds...

I notice I can prelisten a saved  instrument setup with midi or audio clip information ..coolll

UNder USER LIBARY  means that a  new soundstoring managment  with live clips  (.alc-files)...

I dont know is that the right why to work with LIve 9 browser and prelistening ..and saving ...

but the limitation that I can not  prelistening my own libary instruments only liveCLIPS .

    äh it hurts...!"

A video  to clear all the features and limitation would be great..to seee...

I understand exactly what you mean.  I hope that an update will fix this problem.  There are very few folders in the audio effect rack and it would be nice to have the folders created in User be present in Category.  I must have well over a 100 marked as "others".  Very untidy and fairly sloppy on the development foresight.

Thanks for that Funk N. Furter but I think the most important part of that tutorial for me was the bit that states

"You can create your own sub-folders, but they won't show up in Categories at the moment"

Which is what I would like to do.

It's absolutely pointless having both a user and category browser.  When the Live 8 legacy pack comes it will complicate things even further because we will need to suss out what's included and what isn't to tidy up duplicate racks which we have already created.

So anyone who does not enjoy the workflow of two browsers and appreciates that folders cannot be created in the user library still needs a solution.

Strange that the software developers of such an awesome DAW workflow would leave a gaping hole like this.
