Waves & Ableton with OS X Lion

The relationship btw Waves & Ableton seems to be non existant:

"Waves is pleased to announce that Waves Version 8 now supports Mac OSX Lion 10.7 on the following audio hosts:

  • Pro tools 9.0.5 (beta)
  • Logic 9
  • Cubase 6
  • Main Stage 2.1.3
  • Wavelab 7.1
  • Peak 7
  • Waves MultiRack Native
  • Waves MultiRack SoundGrid"

For the most part looking around Waves it seems like they don't even regard Live as a major DAW. I mean they have a PT Beta version before putting up Live for crying out loud. No audio unit compatibility for years with none in sight, shady VST support, etc.

Anyways, my question is about compatibility, do Waves and Ableton play nice in OS X Lion?

I am running Lion, an apogee ensemble and waves version 8 (point something? I think)... I have only installed the VST version of waves and they work fine in Ableton under lion. I haven't tried the AU version though.

You might try checking this chart of Waves supported hosts and formats: http://www.wavesupport.net/Objects/Images/Product%20Info/Supported_Hosts_Charts/V8_mac.html

Well, for me, Live and Waves don't even play nice in 10.6, so, wouldn't get my hopes too far up...

I upgraded, it's pretty unstable but what can you do. We're probably another year away from any upgrades in this department so whatever. I've just kinda come to accept the neglect for mixing by Ableton. The creative tools make it worth sticking around though, otherwise I would have been more excited about PT 10 which actually outruns Live in terms of stability and performance believe it or not.

I have constant crashes with Waves plugins in 8.2.6 (the VST version).
