Master volume fader suddenly drops

Hi

I am currently recycling an old liveset I made in ableton 6 years ago.

Today I work with Live 8.2.2 an APC40 a Motu UltraLite on MacBook Pro.

The liveset is set up in horizontal mode.

When playing the master volume suddenly drops from -6 to -32.

Of course I checked out any track for a faulty automation but I didn't find any.

I also copy/pasted the 9 audio tracks to a new set, but the problem kept coming.

I also suspected the APC being an issue... but the error did not occur in any other of my sets... so i think the faulty command must be inside this set somewhere, but I cannot find it.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

thanks for your time!

Steve

PS: As temporary solution I changed my routing, so that I don't use the master channel anymore. Anyway it was only for the send/returns, that I used it in my Live Performance Setup. But still, it would be great to find out what the problem was.

It really sounds like automation on the master channel. I would double check by expanding the automation lanes for the master channel, and then checking the drop-down menu for automation to check for any pink dots.

When you copied the tracks, depending on how you selected it, the master channel automation would have been copied as well.

Could it be a VST/AU plug-in that cuts the volume as part of its demo limitations?  (e.g. Valhalla reverbs cut the volume now and then when in demo mode.)

@ anamexis. Thanks, of course I checked that before I posted and there was no automation visible.

@philipc: Thanks. A plug-in can indeed lower the volume, but I don't think it affects the volume fader.

    I still think it's a Live6 / Live8 incompatibility that does the trick.

    Found the issue.

The master volume fader of my APC40 is broken.

Thats all... took me an eternity to find out...

I had the same issue. It had nothing to do with the APC40. You have to make sure that in Preferences>Midi Sync> and make sure Takeover Mode is set to pick up. None was selected when I checked. I switched it back to pick up and the issue was resolved.
