Visual Feedback on Clip/Loop Playback Position on Launchpad, etc.

Hi,
Assume you are in session view, & have a clip looping that is 4 measures in length, for example. Is there any way, on an external device like the launchpad, to have a visual cue as to where you are in the current loop? The same function as the little sweeping circle on the track display. The application is to know when the start of the loop is coming around when looping and adding clips in a performance situation, without having to stare at a laptop screen.
Thanks for any help.

Yeah, sort of. I invented a midi clip that flashes green lights in the trk on button of the Launchpad during the 8th bar of every 8 bars. It's in the second Launchpad tutorial on my website MacAbleton.com.

You could try and do one for 4 bars, but it would take a bit of experimentation as this is so random you couldn't explain a way to do it logically.

Thanks funken.  I read your blog, followed some of your posts on the old Live/Launchpad forum, and finally came up with a solution that seems to be working.  I don't need 8 scenes on the session page, so I dedicated the bottom row of buttons to a metronome.  It was a simple matter to send the correct notes to the launchpad from a midi clip.  The problem is that the buttons on the session mode page blink regardless of the velocity values from the programmers reference pdf, it seems, so I had to play around with note timing/duration and send LED off commands in the stream.  It's a hack, but it's useable. If anyone know how to keep those bottom row buttons from blinking, that would be a great help.  Thanks.

Another thing:  I was not notified by email of your reply above.  Some setting in the blog prefs I missed?  Not loving this "new" format, major step backwards from the forum that was shut down...

Yeah the actual metronome method is only velocity sensitive in User 1 mode, that's in the first Launchpad tutorial. The beauty of my 8 bar hack is that it works in Session, but in the trk on knob.

Here's a more elaborate one I made, just for fun

I never got emails from here, didn't know there was supposed to be an option. Dunno why the forum was shut down.
