using audio clips

I can't figure out how to use audio clips in my songs. Specifically I am trying to write a piece using violin clips from Loopmasters clips in live 9. I tried to drop them into simpler so I can control the tones with my midi controller but they don't load. I load the clipd into an audio track and they play as writtn. How can I manipulate these sounds? Thank you.

    Couldn't find help on youtube. I know i'm not wording this right, and maybe i don't understand the whole concept but i'll try again. I start with an audio clip from loopmaster. i like the violin sound and want to create a solo part for one of my songs from it. how do i transalate that pre recorded riff into a different notes, melody etc? maybe I can't do that maybe the audio clip is meant to be used as is, and all i can do is try to alter the pitch of the pre recorded tune and i won't be able to shape it as i please.

    I am not really sure what you are trying to do. If you want to be able to access different part of the sample, then the instrument sampler would be your best bet, since it allows you to access a whole bunch at once or any one piece of a longer sample whenever you tell it to. If you search youtube for sampler tutorials, you are bound to find something that fits what you want to accomplish. If you don't, then post back, and we'll figure something out.

    So you want to use a longer clip, with a bunch of notes in it, to create an instrument of some sort. Is that correct? You want to be able to play a violin sound in whatever note you want right?

    If this is closer to what you are talking about then you want to use the instrument sampler.

    1)

    Before I get too far into the how to, load Sampler into a new midi track and load your sample into the sample window. Play around with the user interface, try to understand as much as you can about the instrument by yourself.

    2)

    Then read page 429 and beyond in the User Manual. This is available both in your Help tab in Ableton, and on Ableton's website. This will get you a lot farther into sampler so you can understand everything about the instrument.

    3)

    Next watch the video I posted below so you can see how a sample can be manipulated in sampler. I hope this helps. Post back with anything.

    Thanks Michael. I will follow your instructions. I don't have sampler. I will try with simpler. If that doesn't work i will get sampler. Thank you.
