Use the sidechain with Waves Plug-In

Hi! :)

I have a little problem with Live 9. I use the Wave's Plug-In for my productions but I don't understand one thing... How can I put them in sidechain into Live?!?

For example: I use pretty much the RCompressor (it give that analog touch that I can't find with the original compressors of Live) but I can't reach to find the way to put it in sidechain with another channel!!! So... if I want create a sidechain compression between the bassline and the drums, I must use the Live's compressor or the Glue Compressor because the RCompressor don't have the sidechain function!!!

I tried every kind of solution: using the Instrument Rack... using the external effect unit with an internal routing... using a S/R channel... anything works!!!

Someone can help me? I'm starting use Live for his simplicity but it seems working on 100% of his potentially only with his own Plug-In... I find them good but I prefer use my NI and Waves Plug-in that they are more powerful and flexibles!!! Thanks

P.S.: Sorry for my bad english!

    Hi!

It's so disappointing from a DAW like Ableton... But unfortunately, the problem is it's impossible to sidechain with a Waves plugin in Live for the moment...

I'm in the same case as you and I've obtained an answer directly from Waves.

Hopefully, our conversation will be ridden by Ableton!!!!

    I hope so...

    Bye

It's the poor support from Waves rather than Ableton itself. From their tech spec page ( http://www.waves.com/support/tech-specs/supported-hosts ):

    • Sidechain is supported on Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Nuendo, Cubase, Sonar X3c and Studio One only.

So yeah, I've got a couple of Waves plugins myself and regret purchasing either of them: the copy protection is completely intrusive, there are other plugins that IMO are better value for money (and sound better), and their support is, erm, unsupportive!

If you ask for the input signal to the side chain

    1 load kick a track

2 in the bass load a c6 comp waves xex.

3 route the audio to : to the bass track

4 in the external mode of the side chain you have the kick signal

I emailed waves with the same problem, this was the response.

Insert F6 on the desired track which you’d like to affect.
Enable SC on the plugin GUI – top-left.
Create an additional audio track On the new Audio track,
set ‘Audio From’ to the track which you want to take the SC signal from,
    In the box - Underneath:
    Set to ‘Pre FX’ –
if you want to take the dry audio from the channel input (before insert fx and mixer volume/pan)
    Set to ‘Post FX’ –
if you want to take the SC signal with all it’s inserts (but before mixer volume/pan).
    Set to ‘Post mixer’ –
if you want the mixer volume to affect the SC level to the compressor.
On the SC Audio track, set ‘Audio To’ to the channel that has the plugin inserted (in step 1).
On the 2nd box bellow set it to the plugin input: ‘Side/F6’
On the dummy track, set ‘Monitor’ to ‘IN’

With some Waves plugins it works, via an "helper" audio track. I tested it with RComp, HComp, VComp, C1, API2500 and DBX-160. Just switch on SC Button on top left.
