Unable To Configure M-Audio Oygen 25 With Live 8 Lite

Hi I run Live 8 Lite and have just bought an M-Audio Oxgyen 25 USB keyboard.

I'd been given to understand that Ableton would read it as soon as connection was made, sadly that is not the case, so I tried to manually configure. Unfortunately the Oxygen 25 does not appear on the list of 'Control Surfaces' via 'Preferences so I'm kind lost as to how to sort this out. Can anyone please advise? Help most appreciated

Yep, you can still use your keyboard to control Ableton even if there isn't a pre-made MIDI setup for that particular device. See the guide on how to assign controls half way down this first page here - http://www.m-audio.com/images/global/manuals/061110_Oxy49Preset_EN01.pdf

The pdf is a bit confusingly written, a picture is worth a thousand words. See if you can select what'd being circled here - http://www.macableton.com/_Media/oxygen-25-midi-configuratio_med-2.png

Really kind of you to share that. Just before your reply I had rebooted the keyboard opened Ableton, then suddenly the midi signal was being read and I can now trigger various voices from Live's midi menu. Not sure what happened but seems ok at the moment, funny thing is it began working without me needing to configure via 'Preferences'.Although I am now able to select Oxygen 25 as the 'Input' 'Output' on Live which I have done. Take a peek here:http://saveimg.com/image/L9T Is that good to go now?

Glad you got it working ! Sometimes I've found you need the midi device switched on before loading Ableton otherwise it ignores it (my Numa stage piano does the same thing). You might still need to set up the keyboard up as 'remote' for you to be able to use the pads/dials/play-pause buttons etc.

mcbpete, Thanks for your support and encouragement, I will follow your advice regarding switching on my midid device prior to opening Ableton..if you have any advice/links on configuring setting up my keyboard as 'remote' I would be most grateful if you can share.

    Hi Errain,

We also offer a tutorial video that covers all aspects of setting up a MIDI keyboard with Live, you can find it as the 2nd video on our "Learn Live" page right here:

    https://www.ableton.com/en/help/learn-live/

However, it can never hurt watching them all, even just to refresh some knowledge :)

    Hope it helps,

    David
