Tempo change applied prior to vocals still distorts those vocals

Hello, I have a song with rather fluid tempo animation - such that the tempo increases very gradually over long phrases.

I applied this animation before recording my vocals - strangely, the vocal audio track is distorting/garbling in the same way that it would if I had recorded my vocals and *then* applied the animation.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there some explanation? And is there a way around it other than just leveling out the tempo, or limiting it to discreet shifts?

Thanks!

Greg

Deselect the 'Warp' button of that particular sample. It should then play it back at the tempo it was recorded at irrespective of what temp you have the track playing at.

Thanks... that improves things, though to tell you the truth it still sounds a little distorted...  might there still be some interference...?

Are you using an external sound card or one built into the machine ? If it's the latter then it may well be interference on the card picking up electrical noise from the rest of the computer.

If it's the clipping type of distortion (i.e. making it sound 'crunchy'), maybe stick a compressor at the end and try playing with some of the settings to bring things down a little bit

hmmm. Ok, thanks, I will try those things! I use both the internal card and my i/o device. I will compare and contrast.
