Strings In Live9

Hi all,

I'm using Live 9 Standard. I have a midi keyboard. I'd like to play strings, amongst other instruments, on the keyboard into Live 9.

I have lots of old 32-bit VSTs, but they won't work in Live 9 without jBridge, or something similar. I've looked into using SoundFonts (.sfz files), which seems ok.

However, is this the best way? Is there something else I'm missing? I'd like high quality strings and other instruments that can be played using the midi keyboard.

i see the Ableton Packs, they're not free, and again not sure if this is the right way to go.

Any advice would be awesome.

Thanks all

Chris

Is there a specific reason why you need to use the 64 bit build of Ableton if you've lots of 32-bit VSTs that'll do the job for you ?

    Thanks for replying!

It was more down to the potential memory I may add. 64-bit ableton supports upto 16Gb RAM, whereas 32-bit supports upto 4GB ram. As it stands, I only have 4GB RAM + a SSD, so I'm not currently restricted to anything due to the speeds of these two combined. However, i may increase the RAM later, which would mean reinstalling Live.

Think I've answered my own question here about what to do, and going back to 32-bit seems the logical solution for now.

That said, The VSTs I use regularly are 64-bit, it's simply string sounds that I'm currently having trouble with, so I'm a "better the devil you know" kinda guy, and would be surprised if there aren't any string VSTs / plugins / packs that can be used with the 64-bit version of Live.

If anyone know of any before I downgrade to 32-bit, "please stand up, please stand up..." :)
