search mode for plug-in devices doesn't show any results

I have about 50 VST plug-ins installed, but when I try using the search mode to quickly find a particular one nothing ever shows up. I tried rescanning the plugin folder but that didn't help.
this is on a mac running 8.2.2

Do you have your plugins in a custom folder? If so, do you have that folder properly mapped in Preferences->Folder->Plug-In Sources? Lastly, do you have VST (and Audio Units if applicable) folders enabled?

the plugins are not in a custom folder. all the VSTs show up in the plugin device sidebar, they just don't appear when I do a search.

but- I did have AudioUnits turned off (because I only use VSTs), when I turned audio units on, the search started working.

so I guess the fix is to always have audiounits enabled even if you're not using any.

+1 here. I donÄt want to have the AUs on all the time as the unecessarily fill up the list. Any solutions? Thanks!
