Push Footswitch 2 record bug

Footswitch 2 keeps record with quantization (1/4) when record button behavior is "none" (free record like jamman). Record button is free and footswitch is not. Is this a bug?

    Hi there,

Thank you for your question here. The second footpedal port on Push allows for 2 actions, which is probably why you are experiencing this delay.

There is a one-click option, triggering record and a two-click action creating a new scene. Currently Live waits for a certain amount after the first click if a second click will be applied. If this is not the case, the one-click action will be performed.

We are aware that some users would like to see this feature improved and we are thinking about ways to address this.

Currently however, we can not make a statement if and when this feature might be changed.

We hope this could at least explain this behaviour to you.

    Best,

    David

You can of course also assign regular MIDI mappings in Push's user mode, as explained over here:

    https://www.ableton.com/en/articles/push-user-mode/

Fore more information on Push's foot pedal ports, please have a look into this article:

Hope this helps and thank you again for your feedback.

I on the other hand still get the latency even if I map the CC69 to session record in user mode and then use default mode. Was this somehow changed in the recent Push firmware upgrade? Generally speaking, please consider adding options to use the foot pedal ports on push just as midi control messages, since this latency completely negates the whole purpose of a foot pedal in live looping situations.

Thank you and kind regards, Luka

I understand the programming limitation of the "waiting for second click". It would be nice to have an option for this because i can't figure out how you can keep the "new clip" feature with a "realtime record" feature without an option.

Can't we use the footswitch as "midi command" with Push not in user mode ? We can in first releases of Live 9 because second footswitch was not assigned to anything.

Anyway if an option is added later, user can always create a new clip with the "new" button of Push.

    Thank you for your reply.

So there is a solution to my problem. I just don't understand that you can set midi map with "User mode" and then go back to default mode and still use your midimap and the other features of Push.

Just can't record new clip with double tap, which is not an issue for me.

    Thank you.
