MIDI Remote Script

Hello!

I would like to know how could I use my APC 20 and MIDI Remote Script to collapse et expand group of tracks?

I tried the track.view.is_collapse = 0, but that didnt work.

I am o 8.2.8

Thank you!

    I have an APC 40, and if I keep the track select button (above the faders) pressed, it automatically collapses or opens grouped tracks. So I don't think you need any scripts :-)

    anyway; instead of trying to do everything the hard way (and again; this works on my apc40, so probably also on the apc20), to skip 8 channels/tracks at a time in session view, I simply have to push the shift button, and select one of the rows/buttons. every row stands for 8 tracks. so I have 8 rows of 8 tracks each available without having to move right.

    Maybe you should start by reading the manual on that thing before you waste hours and hours trying to change a simple feature that is in many cases already available.

    Isn't it better to put that time in making music?

    So what you want is;

    1. Select a track

    push the track selection button, and use cursor buttons or shift+group to browse quickly.

    2. Collapse all group

    if you keep all tracks collapsed in the first place, you won't have this problem; just open the group you work on, and close it after you're done, so you will always know what you're working on.

    3. Open the group I selected

    keep track select button pushed down for 1 or 2 seconds, and the group opens up.

    4. Move the session view (red box) to the 8 tracks of the group.

    again; shift + one of the first 8 rows to select a group of 8 tracks; session view box will jump to those 8 tracks. By the way; this "box" can be 5 different colours, depending on the midicontroller input you use in Live's routing.

    all this (if you save the project with all groups closed) takes 3 seconds + 3 pushes on buttons and still you want to go messing with scripts?

    Guess what? I fixed everything, it was just that the BCR indexes channel from 1, and the _framework from 0.

    Now, I can navigate thru session using button, using only one hand. It has not be that long, but now I can do everything I want my controllers.

    Have fun adapting yourself to your gear, my gears is adapted to me now.

    Good to hear. By the way; the main goal is the musical result. I make the music I want and have all the controls i need during a live gig.

    Funny thing is, i was only trying to help you by pointing out the options an the APC. I didn't say that is what I use myself. In fact, i have a tascam FW-1884 that already works great for that kind of control; automated faders, skipping 8 tracks at a tim by pushing one button, etc.

    You asked a question; i answered it. Enjoy, and i hope this will improve your music.

    Well, I needed because what i wanted was to:

    1. Select a track

    2. Collapse all group

    3. Open the group I selected

    4. Move the session view (red box) to the 8 tracks of tjhe group.

    So, I can have say 4 groups 0f 8 tracks and only views the tracks in the session.

    As usual Ableton is shit, so I just make a template with 24 tracks and 8 submix/returns. And mod the APC20 Remote script so the session move by 8 tracks.

    A little confusion, but it works.

    Now I am trying to set up my BCF to follow the session.

    Ableton is good, but all the good stuff is unsupported. Like the Remote Midi Script, which could be the best thing in the DAW world, but is just shit because it is undocumented big time.

    F::ck Ableton sometime.
