Korg SQ-1 sync with Ableton Live 9 possible or not possible?

It appears that the Korg SQ-1 can not send MIDI data if it receive MIDI Clock from the USB. Korg tells me that the only way to sync them is to have Live run as a slave. Unfortunately this also controls the Live stop/start and not just the clock. I've not found a way to remove the stop/start control whilst keeping the clock from the SQ-1.

I've set the Preferences > MIDI Sync > Input: SQ-1 (SEQ IN) to Sync On

Does anyone know how to separate the Clock from the Start/Stop sync? Is it possible to do this with additional external MIDI Clocks or somehow rerouting a signal to the SQ-1 analogue ins/outs?

Thanks.

I've managed to get Live to control SQ-1s clock and start/stop functions so that it is possible to trigger and control external hardware (modular, in my case). Set MIDI Ports Input: SQ-1 (SEQ IN) Track Off, Sync On, Remote On Output: SQ-1 (MIDI OUT) Track Off, Synch Off, Remote On Output: SQ-1 (CTRL) Track off, Sync On, Remote On.
