Once you install Komplete it does /not/ automatically appear in Live. Not all the time anyway, a lot depends on your Live's VST folder and where you installed Komplete. If you keep all these settings to their default value then you get what you experienced here.

Best solution (IMO anyway) is to first check where Live has its vst folder (preference screen -> file folder tab -> "VST plug-in custom folder".  I suggest creating a new folder there called "Komplete".  Then find the location where Komplete has installed its VST's. Copy all of the vst's (dll or au files (I guess)) and create a link to these files in the "Komplete" directory you created earlier.

This will make sure Live can access the vst's without having to change anything about your Komplete installation (also important with possible future upgrades).

You may need to rescan your vst's or Au's. Go to Pref/ File Folders. Make sure cutom vst lib is checked on. Set the folder to your vst location. Then rescan - this should have all your vst's show up in the plug in tab on the right. They are not Ableton native effects, or instruments so you will need to go to the plug in Icon - looks like a plug. Either drag and drop, double click or create a  midi track sand drag the item you want down into the effect section. Start playing and have fun.

You can start the different applications from NI Komplete over the VST browser in Live. I use the programms very often and they work great in Live.

Once you've installed Komplete each of the instruments should be available as VSTs (and Audio Units if you're on a mac) in the plugin section of Live's browser. From there you can use them like you would any other instrument or effect.

This lets you load up many komplete presets from live/push's browser.  it's recommended you run the latest versions of the vsts.
