I created RokVid and I am happy to help you.  I am sorry to hear about the crashing you are experiencing, solar28 and LopDog.

LopDog: please provide your system information (Mac or PC, Ableton and M4L version, 32 or 64 bit), and let me know what your problem is (crashing, etc.).  I will do my best to get you up and running.

solar28: this is the first report I've had of multiple movie files crashing RokVid.  RokVid was tested cross-platform, and we didn't see this issue.  This makes me wonder if there is something particular about your set up that is causing the issue.  What kind of graphics card do you have?

One thing you can try for now is to run RokVid on a 32 bit version of Live instead, and let me know if there is still crashing.  That may help us track down the problem.

Max for Live in general is not fully compatible with Live 64 bit on Windows.  This is a issue that the company that makes Max is working on, and we expect an update very soon when Max 7 comes at.  I am going to release a new version of RokVid then that may resolve crashing problems that certain Windows computers running 64 bit Live are having with RokVid.

If you decide to return RokVid for a refund, that is understandable given the crashes you are having with your set up.  You can contact me directly and I am happy to give you a free copy of the new version when it is ready, message me at ruwatheband at gmail dot com.

Me, too.  I also have Isadora and have played around with Resolume, they both crash sometimes, too.  I decided it is because I use a 2009 MacBook Pro and the GPU/CPU just can't handle music and graphics processing at the same time.  But I hope I am wrong, and someone else has figured this out.

Hi, I created RokVid and am happy to help you get it up and running.  It is not normal for it to be crashing all the time, so let's see what we can do to fix it for you.

Most crashes are fixed by updating to the latest version of Max for Live, which you can get at Ableton's site.  Update your software and then see if the problem is fixed.

If not, let me know the following information and I help you better: Mac or PC, 32 bit or 64 bit Live, version of Ableton and Max for Live, and operating system version.

I just bought RokVid for Win7 and it crashes CONSTANTLY.  I'm about to ask for a refund.  MaxForLive is latest version.  I have converted the video files from .mov to .avi.  I can play any single one just fine (these AVI files are 1/2-3 megs each).  But the instant I drag in multiple files; boom; hard ableton crash.  Again, one file (which isn't the point of RokVid) is just fine.  But multiple is deadly.

i7 3770 k;16gibs Ram;RME Fireface.  System specs shouldn't be an issue when I can't even drag in a few megabytes worth of video.

so i guess i'm on the "pay no mind" list? i went back and forth with ableton support on this plug in after making the mistake of buying it for about two weeks. if you didn't notice, i commented on your (adam) "solution" above with the details of my setup. in the end, ableton's solution was to have me leave my buffer up over 1000, which as you know, would render playing live pretty much unmanageable because of the latency that would create. they said my quicktime was clashing for some reason... that was it. i didn't bother asking for a refund because, well, it was just that annoying at that point, and i just didn't care about the $24. i was disappointed, and that was the last time i even tried to use Rokvid. maybe the update you have planned will respond better.
