Is there a way to render to MIDI / notes?

Maybe this is something simple that I am missing, but can I render tracks to MIDI instead of bouncing them to audio?

For example, is there a way to use the chord or arpeggiator plug-in and have the result as notes so I can edit them directly, instead of settings of the plug-in?

I'm using Live 7 by the way.

    Yes there is.

Just create a blank midi track,  open the I-O section, set it's "midi from" to be the track where you have the midi fx. Arm the track, and record a clip.

Then you can put the clip back in the original track, and get rid of the midi fx.

    Hope that was clear...

    Yes, you can.

Blank midi track, set it's input, arm it, and record. Voilá!

I use the arpeggiators quite a bit too, so this is a great answer. But...

Won't the new MIDI track need to have an instrument in it (a clone of the one in the track which is sending the MIDI, perhaps) in order for anything to be recorded?

Or can you record MIDI data into a MIDI track without there being a MIDI instrument present in it?
