is there a shortcut for muting clips?

..or muting notes? having to ctrl klick each time and then search menu is a bit annoying

    Incidentally, in case the OP is still wondering, the answer is "0" (zero) to deactivate the notes or clips (at least in Live 9).

    What exactly do you mean? You can simply mute the track that holds the clip by turning it off or pulling the fader down.
    A very good way to mute and start clips is using a midi controller. Novation and Akai have great controllers for Ableton.

    This is not at all the same thing. If you are arranging and you want to audition without a particular clip, but not lose the entire track or delete the clip entirely, it is essential to be able to mute just the clip.

    I think I'm having a similar issue. What I'd like to do is trigger a scene, but have one of the clips in that scene muted, so that I can play that particular part live.

    In other words, mute a clip but not the track nor the instrument on that track. It would somehow have to be muted AND record enabled at the same time.

    Sounds like this belongs in the same thread, sorry if it doesn't.
