How get a successful wav export of a clip from Clip View?

- Worked in Session view with audio recordings and mp3s
- Copied clips from Session view into Arrangement view
- Selecting those clips in Arrangement view
- Exporting from Arrangement view to a WAV file

What I kept getting was a full size WAV file (40 mg) of the right time length..... but no sound! I did a number of things, including using the "Back to Arrangement" button, making sure I selected the track from Arrangement, making sure the full time was selected, but got same "no sound" but full size WAV file.

Eventually I gave up. I can make get my recording through the usual way of recording while playing the clip. But, of course, I shouldn't have to do this.

Any tips on how to copy clips from Session to Arrangement, and then successfully export to WAV?

Thanks,
-- Joe

There should be no trick to this really. I suspect something else is going on here, make sure that none of your tracks are soloed, and check your audio I/O routing. Make sure that audio is being sent to the master. If you are sending audio to another track or the sends then you'll get a silent file for that track and your audio will end up on the file corresponding the send or channel that you send the audio to.

Lastly check the ableton manual section for 5.2.4 Exporting Audio and Video, and also the section on audio routing. This will help you clear things up.

Hi.  I was having this problem too.  Some track would export OK, and other were completely silent.

On the silent one I noticed if I started the track  by clicking on the main play button that too was silent.  I could only hear the track if I clicked on the Clip Launch button.

By chance I found that if I reselected "Audio To" from Master to "1 Audio" and then back to Master on the clip it all started working.

    Hope this helps you too.

What I said above still stands but I discovered the real reason its silent is the loop buton in the notes panel needs to be selected.  Don't know why but if I select that I get sound every time.
