how can I preset the recording time in sessionview

so that I hit a slot to record, and after a predefined time, lets say 2 bars, the recording of the audio stops automatically?

Check out the section 'Drop-In Centre' on this page - https://www.soundonsound.com/sos/aug08/articles/livetechnique_0808.htm

is this article more about the arrangement view?   the punch in and loop knobs doesn't seem to have any effect on the session view recording, as I tried

YES!  It works!!   In session view, to record audio or midi, a double click is enough, to have the  automated recording time

thanks a lot, for your help!

the only thing is now, why does it only work for once,  and then,  one must press the main stop to have the possibility again for the next clip
