Has Anybody Tried Ableton 9 Suite on the Windows Tech Preview?

Hi There,

I have been running Ableton 9 Suite very successfully on the Windows 10 Tech preview.  After the last tech preview build, the software gets hung on initializing aplication.  Wondering if others out there have tried this and if you have found a work around.

System Details:

i7-4770S CPU @ 3.10 GHz

Ram 16GB

64 Bit OS and Processor on Windows 10 Tech Preview

So Windows 10 goes live at the end of July.

It's cutting it a bit fine. Surely Ableton should be Windows 10 compatible by now

With release of windows 10 coming up in a few month, do you have any news on this. I have problems with the newest Live beta too.

Has there been any progress on this? Windows 10 goes live at the end of the month (6/29 I believe) and I am sure the free upgrade will be short lived.... I am also sure that lots of people (including myself) will want to jump on the opportunity to upgrade for free.

Did you ever figure this out?  I have tried the compatibility troubleshooter and setting to Windows 7 compatibility to no avail.

I have the same problem. WIndows 10 Preview installed and my Ableton 9 freezes on 'initializing midi inputs and outputs'. Is there a fix?

    Hi there,

So far we have not yet officially tested Windows 10 preview and Live 9, so for now we recommend holding off and using Windows 7 or 8.

Once Windows 10 goes into Beta stage, we will start compatibility tests, with the goal to have Live fully compatible to Windows 10 when it is officially released.

    Best,

I can confirm that while the stable version of live does not work on windows 10, the ableton live 9.2 beta does!

If you haven't already you can sign up for the beta program and download the 9.2 beta which works perfectly on windows 10.

Edit: Ignore all this. I found the source of the problem. Rewire is what is causing the lockups.

If I start 2 instances of ableton live, the first one will fail to start but the second one will throw an error about rewire at me but actually start up fine.

Thanks! I've been running the beta for a while with lots of luck on W8.1, so I look forward to trying W10 with the beta.
