Great answer to the first issue - the second answers something else - I'll try to make it more clear.

In live 9 - they have made notes sticky towards quantization intervals but otherwise unaffected by them when dragging unless holding a modifier. It is the extremely rare case where I want to drag a note to a time interval that is not on the beat --- in fact in 16 years of sequencing I've only done it a few times to compensate for sounds with slow attacks. I create most beats in the piano roll and many melodies by placing the notes. I wish to remove the new behavior for dragging notes around. I want the editor to behave like Live 8, so that I can drag notes around quickly to quantized positions.

Ugh - I was mistaken, holding the alt modifier does not even fix this. The notes always behave as if the alt key were held in Live 8 by default. I really can't fathom why they did this. Holding the alt- key for fine resolution placement was totally fine. The default behavior should not be for the extreme case - bad ergonomics. Man thinking of going back to fruity loops
