    Wow! That is an awesome idea. It is not funny at all. I think it is absolutely right. If you record it, at least you have a chance of remembering what you wanted - even if it is much later. Then, even if it takes you a long time to realize the sounds in Ableton, at least you have something to go back to, to try to remember what is was you were thinking.

    You can also use melodyne and export your singing to MIDI :)

    this is what I do (although i prefer to whistle melodies & vocally beat box rhythms than sing) - no one should ever hear the original recordings, but with melodyne its painless to extract MIDI from them... I tend to record with a little Zoom H2, nice to not be in front of a computer!
